Thomas A. Daley
GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Thomas A. "Tom" Daley, 44, of 541 Hill Top Circle, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 1996, at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore.
Born Aug. 18, 1952, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of Clyde T. Daley of Waynesboro and the late Joan R. Pogue Daley. He was the stepson of Joyce Bonebrake Daley of Waynesboro.
He was a 1970 graduate of Waynesboro Area Senior High School. He graduated from Shippensburg College in 1974 with a degree in business. He became a certified public accountant in 1978.
Following graduation, he was employed by Smith Elliott Kearns & Co. accounting firm in Hagerstown for a number of years. He then became controller for Foremost Industries in Greencastle. He then worked for Frank Ruth Accounting out of Gettysburg, Pa., in the Waynesboro office. He was most recently vice president and controller of Hagerstown Block Co. From 1984 to 1994, he was a partner with Daley and Snyder Accounting Office in Waynesboro.
While living in Waynesboro, he was a member of Otterbein United Brethren in Christ Church. After moving to Greencastle, he became a member of Greencastle Bible Church.
He was on the board of directors of Heritage Academy in Hagerstown and served as treasurer. He also served on the board of directors of Alexander Hamilton Memorial Library and was treasurer for a number of years. He was a member of the American Institute of CPAs; Pennsylvania Institute of CPAs; Maryland Institute of CPAs; Rotary Club of Waynesboro and Waynesboro Country Club.
In addition to his father and stepmother, he is survived by his wife, Jane E. Glenn Daley, whom he married on July 17, 1971; two daughters, Andrea J. Daley and Karen E. Daley, both at home; one sister, Victoria L. Swope of Zullinger, Pa.; and two nieces.
Services will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Otterbein United Brethren in Christ Church, 801 Park St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Wilber L. Sites and the Rev. Jeff Ehko will officiate. Burial will be in Quincy Cemetery, Quincy, Pa.
The family will receive friends at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Makensey D. Phillips
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Makensey Dawn Phillips, 5, of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 1996.
Born May 23, 1991, in Martinsburg, she was the daughter of Robert W. and Shelly Walker Phillips II of Martinsburg.
She was a member of the Marlowe Assembly of God Church and attended the Independent Bible Church.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by two sisters, Jessica Breeann Phillips and Hayley Louise Phillips, both at home; maternal grandparents, Barbara and Clifton Brooks Jr. of Keyser, W.Va., and Charles and Leah Walker Sr. of Martinsburg; paternal grandparents, Tom and Carol Smiley of Falling Waters, W.Va.; and aunts and uncles.
Services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Rev. James Haskiell and the Rev. R. Todd Marple will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Martinsburg.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.
George E. Ashbaugh Jr.
BOONSBORO - George Emanuel Ashbaugh Jr., 69, of 18722 Lappans Road, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 1996, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born July 8, 1927, in Middletown, Md., he was the son of the late George Emanuel and Mary S. Boyer Ashbaugh Sr.
He was a retired brick and block mason.
A veteran of the U.S. Army Transportation Corps, he served during World War II.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He was a member of American Legion Post 202, Williamsport, and Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Jane Cooper Ashbaugh, whom he married Oct. 18, 1948; one daughter, Linda Shoemaker of Hagerstown; two sons, George E. Ashbaugh III and Daniel L. Ashbaugh, both of Boonsboro; three grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Elizabeth Ashbaugh, Lilly Ashbaugh and Helen Smith; and three brothers, Auston Ashbaugh, Kenneth Ashbaugh and John Ashbaugh.
Memorial services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the chapel of Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Anne O. Weatherholt will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mark's Cemetery, Lappans.
There will be no viewing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Ellen L. C. Hager
Ellen Louise C. Hager, 73, of 1050 Corbett St., Hagerstown, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 1996, at Western Maryland Hospital Center.
Born Feb. 1, 1923, in Clear Spring, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Lola Hawbaker Miles.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Carl William Lorshbaugh, in 1962, and her second husband, Maurice Hager, in 1973.
She was employed by the Sheraton and retired after 17 years of employment.
She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Carol Showe and Darlene Turner, both of Hagerstown; three sons, Carl W. Lorshbaugh of Nova, Pa., Ross Lorshbaugh and Larry Lorshbaugh, both of Hagerstown; five sisters, Alma Johnson, Ida Mason, and Thelma Burke, all of Clear Spring, Isabell Irvin and Judy Bergen, both of Hagerstown; two brothers, Glenn Miles of Hagerstown and David Miles of Martinsburg, W.Va.; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, John Miles, Jesse Miles and Roger Miles.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Raymond H. Shriver will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Donalean M. D. Kelly
EMMITSBURG, Md. - Donalean M. Davis Kelly, 85, of West Main Street, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 1996, at St. Catherine's Nursing Center, Emmitsburg.
Born Feb. 27, 1911, in Thurmont, Md., she was the daughter of the late George and Gertrude Finneyfrock Davis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frances R. Kelly on Nov. 12, 1993.
She retired from the dietary department of St. Joseph's Provincial House after 39 years of service.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Emmitsburg.
She is survived by two daughters, Ann Marie Green of Emmitsburg and Theresa Mackley of Harrisburg, Pa.; one son, James R. Kelly of Hagerstown; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Harvey J. Davis, Harold E. Davis, and Allen F. Davis.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church. The Rev. Michael J. Kennedy will be celebrant. The family will meet at Skiles Funeral Home, Emmitsburg, at 10:30 a.m. before going to the church. Burial will be in New St. Joseph's Cemetery, Emmitsburg
Friends may call Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. A Christian Wake service will be held at 8 p.m.

Jeannette A. Ettinger
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Jeannette A. Ettinger, 77, of Martinsburg, died Friday, Dec. 6, 1996, at her home.
Born Nov. 29, 1919, in Martinsburg, she was the daughter of the late John and Pansey Raney Armstrong.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Karl M. Ettinger.
She was a 1938 graduate of Martinsburg High School.
She retired as a cook from North Middle School.
She was a member of the Second Baptist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Susan E. Euler of Martinsburg; one son, Karl A. Ettinger of Martinsburg; one sister, Lydia Hollis of Martinsburg and one brother, Donald Armstrong of Riva, Md.
Services will be held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Second Baptist Church with the Rev. R. Shawn Edwards officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg.
The family will receive friends at Brown Funeral Home today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Cora E. Smallwood
BARDANE, W.Va. - Cora Etta Smallwood, 78, of Bardane, died Friday, Dec. 6, 1996, at her home.
Born March 29, 1918, in Charles Town, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late William and Mandy Walker Redmond.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Ardell Smallwood.
She was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
She is survived by four daughters, Marie Getts of Inwood, W.Va., Shirley Figgins of Front Royal, Va., Sandra Penwell of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., and Leah Rose of Gerrardstown, W.Va.; four sons, Robert Smallwood of Aikens, S.C., Charles Smallwood of San Diego, Marshall Smallwood at home and Rodney Smallwood of Ranson, W.Va.; 23 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, William Smallwood and Joseph Smallwood; one sister, Mattie Littleton; and four brothers, Junior Redmond, Pete Redmond, Joseph Redmond and Wilbur Redmond.
Services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home, Ranson. The Rev. James Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Edge Hill Cemetery, Charles Town.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Beatrice A. D. Latimer
Beatrice A. Deneen Latimer, 86, of Avalon Manor Nursing Home, Hagerstown, and formerly of Warfordsburg, Pa., died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 1996, at the nursing home.
Born Sept. 13, 1910, in Warfordsburg, she was the daughter of the late Scott O. and Lillian M. Fisher Deneen.
She met and married her husband, Paul Latimer during World War II. He preceded her in death at the Field of Flanders in 1945.
She was employed by the Warfordsburg Elementary School Cafeteria for several years.
She was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during World War II in Washington, D.C.
She was a member of the Warfordsburg Presbyterian Church.
She also was a member of the Warfordsburg Grange and the War-Nee-Do Club. For many years she helped serve dinner to the Warfordsburg Lions Club. She served as secretary of the Warfordsburg Burial Association until she entered Avalon Manor in 1994.
She is survived by one daughter, Sandra Latimer; one sister, Aura Deneen of Hagerstown; two granddaughters, Cynthia Latimer and Paulette Latimer; one niece; one nephew; and grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Juanita Myers and Martina Dolfman and one brother, Woodrow Deneen.
Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Warfordsburg Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. William Mielkz officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorial donations may be made to the Southern Fulton High School Scholarship Fund.
