Anyone have experience with an umbilical hernia?

My belly button has been super tender (I assumed just from belly stretching and belly button starting to pop) and then just today I noticed a bulge over my belly button. Dr. Google says it could be an umbilical hernia. I don’t see my doctor again until next week but plan to ask then.

ya, I had to get surgery to repair it after baby was born. it wasn't bad though, got to leave the same day and then a week of recovery. got to breastfeed through it all.

what was the recovery like? Could you lift baby etc?

I remember it was doable with the painkillers. I mostly just slept that week. my mom was there to help and my husband helped when he could. I was careful lifting the baby only when necessary. you kind of get a feel for what your body can handle. probably no lifting baby for first few days.

Our baby was actually born with one and they didn’t do anything for it. Almost 2 now and it hasn’t even been brought up since she was first born. I know you’re asking for yourself but it seems like surgery isn’t always necessary. I have had a hiatal hernia for 3 years now and they just give me meds for GERD for it. Again, no mention of surgery. Think it just depends how bad it is ��‍♀️
